Abstract

From the 19th century onwards, knowledge about the behavior of animals began to be systematized and in 1950 Ethology was founded, a science that studies these behaviors using scientific investigation methods based on the assumption that behavioral expression has immediate and ultimate causes. Ethology content for basic education can provide students with a critical view of the variable survival strategies of living beings and the environment. This work aims to analyze the presence of the theme of animal behavior in the last three official Brazilian curricular proposals: National Curricular Parameters, National Curricular Common Base and Paulista Curriculum directed to the teaching of Biology in High School. The data will be obtained through the analysis of the official documents mentioned above and will be analyzed from the elaboration of categories, considering the quantitative and qualitative dimensions.
