Abstract

Additive manufacturing consists of a set of techniques that aim to manufacture objects by deposition of material layer by layer in a controlled manner. Among these techniques, fused material deposition modeling (FDM) is the most popular. Its use is growing every year and is being widely used not only in the industrial field, but also by hobbyists and enthusiasts in the area who promote the growth of the "do-it-yourself" culture by creating open-source projects, making rapid prototyping a common practice in our society. The present proposal aims, using a 3D printer and other measurement and data acquisition equipment, to study the feasibility of using PLA-HT and PETG as high performance dielectric materials in printed parts for precision electronic applications. In addition, it aims to understand the influence of the printing parameters associated with the composition of the polymers, as to their additives and pigments, on the dielectric behavior of these materials. To carry out this research project, the use of techniques such as x-ray diffractometry for characterization of the pigments used in the coloring of the filaments, optical microscopy, confocal microscopy and scanning electron microscopy combined for the analysis of the material surface. Therefore, this project aims to contribute to the area of electric shielding of electronic circuits from the possibility of using high performance insulating systems printed on PLA-HT and PETG, reducing costs in the manufacture of these systems and promoting the 3D printing sector.
