Abstract

The study of quantum phase transitions is an aspect of great interest in the scientific community. Despite enormous efforts to detect quantum phase transitions, this is currently still a major problem given the computational effort required to diagonalize high-dimensional matrices. Our goal, in this sense, is to understand how elements of quantum information theory can be useful in this process. In particular, we will focus on the ANNNI model, considering first and second neighbor interactions, and we will study how entanglement, quantum discord and mutual information can be useful in detecting quantum phase transitions.
