Abstract

6-nitrocatecholamines are a class of nitrated catecholamine-derived molecules, which includes 6-nitrodopamine, 6-nitroadrenaline and 6-nitronadrenaline. Current evidence indicates that those molecules are endogenously synthesized and constitute important modulators of cell signaling in different tissues. Vas deferens is one of those tissues whose function is potentialy modulated by 6-nitrocatecholamines, as demonstrated by preliminary results of this research. In this way, this research aims to measure the endogenous synthesis of 6-nitrocatecholamines in this tissue, using LC-MS/MS analysis of a solution incubated with rat vas deferens, as well as assess the effect of these molecules on vas deferents contractility, through the measurement of the force of tension produced by the isolated tissue in vitro.
