Abstract

Basic human education is extremely important, for several reasons, but one of the main ones is the fact that it tends to prepare the subject to have the knowledge and skills necessary to understand his socio-political role, to be aware of his rights as a citizen, which are protected in important laws, such as: the Federal Constitution (1998), the Law of Directives and Bases of National Education (1996), the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (1990), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), among others. For this, and other reasons, we intend to study school dropout, a problem that hurts one of the rights set forth in these documents, the right to education. In addition, we intend to continue the research carried out during our master's degree, in which we investigated the school dropout of the rural population. One of the results of this research was the perception that, among the intersectionalities that exist in this theme, one of them is the issues imposed on women living in rural areas; thus, in this research the ambition is to investigate these issues. And, considering the proposal to give continuity to the research carried out, we will study the rural regions of the microregion of the city of Viçosa-MG, municipality where the initial research took place. For this, in methodological terms, a bibliographic study will be carried out about the object of study and a field research, in which women who dropped out of basic education will be interviewed. Among the results, we hope to contribute to the deepening of the studies about school dropout in basic education, as well as to the strands that discuss gender, race and rural education.
