Abstract

Introduction: Insomnia is a frequent complaint and is associated with damage to physical and psychological health. Biopsychosocial factors may contribute to the development and severity of insomnia. Knowing the factors associated with the presence of insomnia in a Brazilian sample allows the development and contextualized planning of preventive and interventional measures aimed at sleep problems in the country. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the factors associated with the presence of insomnia in a Brazilian sample. Method: Adults aged between 18 and 59 years with and without insomnia complaints identified by the DSM-5 insomnia criteria and a cutoff point of 11 on the Insomnia Severity Index (IGI) will be evaluated. Sociodemographic variables (gender, age, marital status, education), lifestyle (use of medication to sleep, practice of physical activity), family composition (having children, number of children), occupation, family history (disorder of sleep, psychiatric disorder) and psychological and cognitive variables (anxiety, depression, psychological flexibility, beliefs about sleep, fear of covid) will be evaluated as potential factors associated with the presence of insomnia. Simple and multivariate analyzes will be performed using binary logistic regression and linear regression
