Abstract

This research intends to study the work of the Deaf Instructor (DI) and its relationship with the deaf child that is still in the period of language acquisition inserted in a bilingual educational environment. The updated version of the Brazilian educational base and guidelines law (LDB) will be used as a base regarding bilingual deaf education as an educational method, and deaf students' rights in this situation. This work is supposed to analyze the role of the DI in their relationship with the also deaf students, who are developing their deaf identity, culture, and language, knowing that the studies regarding this professional's role as responsible for identity understanding and reassurance have a tiny number of studies in the scientific periodicals. Moreover, this work is relevant because the LDB guides the valorization of deaf identity in a bilingual educational space. To achieve this, we will observe the Deaf Instructor work in a school with a bilingual education model, in a medium-sized city localized in São Paulo. The data collection will be made by observation of the DI actuation with the deaf children in the elementary school beginning, with a logbook entry, ally an interview with this professional, to know how language and identity model presence strengthens the deaf culture and the sign language. The data will be presented by clippings of excerpts from notes and interviews and analyzed from language and deaf identity development studies.
