Abstract

Subjectivity is taken as an object of study in Social Psychology. Different theories focus on the individuum - society relationship and its psychosocial processes through categories such as senses and meanings, for example. This research aims to relate these categories to the context of the struggle for housing (FML - Brasil), motivated by the subsidies of an international research, in which we participated in 2022, coordinated by Mary Jane Spink. During this study, the demand to focus on the issue through a gender perspective gained relevance. Several indications from the facts collected in Spink's research made us question: what are the senses and meanings of housing for women in this context? Thus, we propose this study with the main objective of understanding the senses and meanings of housing for women involved in a social movement fighting for the right to live, in the city of São Paulo. As expected contributions, we aim to produce a set of narratives of women who currently experience this condition, in order to: a) collaborate to historicize the struggle for the right to housing through a gender perspective; b) contribute to the expansion of gender studies, within Critical Social Psychology, in interface with the urban studies and, indirectly, c) subsidize public housing actions that, unavoidably, must consider the gender perspective in its guidelines. To do so, based on theoretical-methodological perspectives of Socio-Historical Psychology, we propose as main method directions a broad bibliographical review on the field-theme and conducting semi-structured interviews with women who live in an Ocupação da Frente Luta por Moradia (FLM), accessed through an already consolidated network of contacts.
