Abstract

Envenomation by snakebite is a relevant global health problem, considering the thousands of annual cases resulting from these accidents. Many medicinal plants have components that inhibit the effects of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) protein toxins found in snake venoms, especially polyphenolic acids, which also have several actions, such as antiviral, antibacterial, among others. However, these acids are poorly soluble in water, considered as class II and class IV of the Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS), which makes it a challenge to apply these compounds in the inhibition of myotoxins. Thus, this project aims to screen new multicomponent solid forms of polyphenolic acids by the mechanochemical method, using the Neat grinding (NG) and Liquid-assisted grinding (LAG) methods. The characterization of the synthesized compounds will be performed through Simultaneous Thermogravimetry and Differential Thermal Analysis (TG-DTA); Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC); X-Ray Powder Diffraction (DRXP) and Infrared Spectroscopy (IR). The solubility will be studied in order to verify a possible improvement in such physical-chemical property of the studied compounds.
