Abstract

This research project seeks to investigate the relations between Ernst Cassirer's theses involving the redefinition of the human being in terms of symbol - animal symbolicum - and the myth, while a symbolic form. From the reconstruction of problems, we will seek to analyze the manner in which the elaborations about both themes can be understood as confluent and complementary. Our research is organized in the following steps: A) Presentation of the Animal Symbolicum's argument, according to the first part of the Philosophical Anthropology's work, and its symbolic expression, experience and possibility, expanding the classic notion of animal rationale; B) Characterization of the symbolic form of the myth, according to the second part of Philosophical Anthropology, preface of the second volume of Philosophy of the Symbolic Forms and period diagnosis contained in the Myth of State; C) Elaboration of relevant questions on the relationship between the previous two steps, involving the concept of crisis and the task of philosophy, which will guide the sequence of our research. Thus, we intend to understand the internal structure of these two problems and observe how they are in convergence in Ernst Cassirer's project.
