Abstract

The objective of this project is to provide computational systems that assist in the automation, programmatically, of the processes of collection, analysis, and modeling of data that characterize research methods used in the literature of socio-political studies and Information Science, specifically those that deal with the theory of Complex Networks applied to these branches. This system should be able to obtain data from different web platforms that, in turn, provide APIs, or application programming interfaces, that enable such interaction from standardized requests. From these, computational objects representative of graphs can be generated through algorithms designed taking into account their respective informational modeling. These objects will then be manipulated and visualized through an online access application available in the public domain, developed with two different end-users in mind: the common citizen with an interest in the Brazilian political scene, and the researcher, who may use the tool both to deepen their interpretive analyses of the networks or to contribute importantly to their socio-political studies. The combination of process automation with the provision of a powerful data visualization tool should considerably increase the efficiency and depth of these studies, mitigating the intrinsic difficulties of the intellectual analysis of massive quantities of data. Initially, great priority will be given to the development in relation to the API of the open database of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, whose use is still underexplored in the literature. Later, it is hoped to extend the data collection to social media sites, especially Twitter.
