Abstract

The research aims to understand the relationship between cross-border mobilities, the contact between the Portuguese and Spanish languages in the border region and the way in which the intercultural education of students in the Project Bilingual and Intercultural Border Schools (Pebif) between Portugal and Spain occurs. This is an educational project formulated in partnership between the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), the Ministry of Education of Portugal, the Ministry of Education and Professional Formation of Spain and the educational boards of the autonomous communities of Castilla y León, Extremadura and Andalucía. Project planning began in 2019 and began to be carried out in the 2021/2022 school year in 16 schools in the border region between the two countries - 10 Portuguese schools and 6 Spanish schools. The focus of the empirical investigation will be the daily practices and representations of teachers and students who work and study at the Manuel Cabanas schools, in Vila Real de Santo António (Algarve, Portugal), Galdames and Virgen de Carmen, in Ayamonte (Andalucía, Spain). Qualitative research will be centered on conducting interviews with professors and students, on field observation and on bibliographical and documental research. (AU)
