Abstract

Introduction: The occupational therapist, in cancer palliative care, has the ability to identify the roles, values and occupational dimensions that make up the human being. Through the client-centered therapeutic plan, and knowledge of the life project in palliative care, it becomes possible to promote a better quality of life and death for these people. Objective: To understand the experience of people in cancer palliative care about their life projects facing the finitude of life. Method: Qualitative research, using the theoretical framework of the oral history of life, carried out with people in cancer palliative care. Data collection will be a semi-structured interview. Data will be recorded for subsequent reflective thematic analysis. Justification: There is a scarcity in the publication of studies referring to palliative interventions of Occupational Therapy regarding the life project, thus justifying the construction of the same, with this population. This theme is fundamental for the improvement of the assistance provided. Expected results: It is expected that this research will contribute to the performance of occupational therapists in carrying out life projects to provide customer-centered care. Thus, by identifying their priorities, it is expected to provide the team with better direction to meet the demands of this population. Preliminary considerations: Understanding the life projects of people in oncology palliative care contributes to improving the quality of care and involvement between the treatment, oncology patient and team when establishing priorities. Thus, the performance of occupational therapy in the interprofessional team becomes fundamental.
