Abstract

The present work aims to study quartz crystals taken from sediments of the Archipelago of Mariuá, AM, using the techniques of XRD and TL. The results will be correlated with studies of geochronology and sediment provenance. For this, around 20 samples will be collected from river terraces of the middle Rio Negro, which covers the archipelago, as well as sediments from aeolian dunes found in the region.The use of the XRD technique will result in the determination of the types of minerals found in the samples and statistical analysis will be used to try to separate them into coincident groups. In the case of TL analysis, TL response calibration curves will be made as a function of dose to obtain their saturation dose; in addition, the experimental TL curves will be deconvoluted to determine the TL peaks and the values of activation energies (E) of the centers responsible for the emission of the TL peaks, the E energies will be compared with those obtained by the "Fractional Glow curve" method , and finally TL spectra of the samples will be made. All these data will be correlated with the ages of these sediments and applied in their provenance studies.This project is part of research project No. 2020/08592-8, entitled CONTRIBUTION TO GEOLOGICAL, ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND BIOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE MARIUÁ ARCHIPELAGO, MID RIO NEGRO - AM.
