Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the meanings attributed to the body by students entering and graduating from the Physical Education course at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas. The theoretical referential will be a dialogue between an anthropological and a psychoanalytical perspective. The intention is to investigate, in this way, if there is any change in the way of thinking about the body and its vicissitudes along the course. If a change is verified, the research seeks to understand how this process happened and the possible impacts of this change on the academic formation process. In this way, we will seek to understand the body as being the effect of countless sociocultural discourses incorporated by the subject, especially regarding its conjectural crossing through the linguistic world and cultural codes. Thus, the body and its destinations may suffer direct influences of the historical context, the social imaginary, the culture, and the constitutional ambivalence present in the subject's psyche.
