Abstract

Introduction: Semaglutide is an antidiabetic drug analogous to human GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide), a class of drugs that has recently gained prominence thanks to its good results in clinical trials, however, the retention of data on its effects on diseases Chronic and acute cardiovascular and renal disorders limit its use to the general public. Acute kidney disease affects approximately 49% of patients treated for major cardiovascular surgeries, in addition to presenting a mortality rate greater than 50%, which justifies the search for possibilities to prevent the injury. Objectives: To evaluate the effect of treatment with oral semaglutide on renal function, oxidative profile and hemodynamics in rats treated with an ischemia and reperfusion model. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive, prospective study, with a quantitative and experimental approach, with adult male Wistar rats, weighing between 250-300g, randomized into groups: SHAM (control, with simulation of renal pedicle clamping); GLP-1 (semaglutide, orally (orally), 5 days; 3mg/day); Ischemia and Reperfusion (I/R) (clamping the bilateral renal pedicles for 30 minutes, followed by reperfusion) and GLP-1+I/R (semaglutide treatment followed by ischemia). The analysis of renal function will be performed by inulin clearance and renal hemodynamics will be verified, including mean and cardiac arterial pressure. Presentation assays will be performed with urinary peroxides (FOX) and lipoperoxidation (TBARS) and non-protein thiols in renal tissue.
