Abstract

Studying the arrival directions of cosmic rays on Earth is a promising way to obtain information about their origin and propagation through extragalactic space. The student will analyze directional data of cosmic rays detected at the Pierre Auger Observatory and look for evidence of anisotropy on a large angular scale by expanding the measured flux as a function of the directions in spherical harmonics. He will repeat an analysis with the same objective published by the Pierre Auger Collaboration, now including data obtained up to 2022, thus expanding the study by including the most recent data. The student will contribute to the certification of the result in parallel with other groups within the Auger Collaboration and other fellows in the group at the IFGW.
