Abstract

The project foresees bibliographical research in the field of acting studies in cinema. The internship will take place at Laboratoire Approches Contemporaines de La Création et Recherche Artistiques of the University of Strasbourg in France under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Christophe Damour. In qualifying the acting performance in the 2000s and 2010s in works guided by verisimilitude and transparency, we find that the terms "realist" and "naturalist" are used synonymously, without detailed distinctions between them. Our hypothesis is that there is a significant aesthetic difference and quite distinct worldviews between works that can be framed within these two qualities in Brazilian cinema. For its confirmation, a literature review of the concepts of "naturalism" and "realism" within acting studies will be carried out, followed by the filmic analysis of the selected corpus. A better definition of these concepts will help us in the qualification of acting in Brazilian cinema, since the realist/naturalist double appears as a central aspect in the work of many Brazilian actors.
