Abstract

This project aims to analyze the role of the local government in the reception of the migrant Warao indigenous population from an anthropological and legal perspective, mainly through the use of the participant observation research methodology. To this end, we will accompany the activities of local government institutions, such as the municipal secretariat for social services (Secretaria Municipal de Assitência Social - SEMAS), the social services reference center (Centro de Referência de Assistência Social - CRAS), the municipal departments for justice, health and education, along with any others that may be brought into play towards the reception (or lack thereof) of the chosen focus group. The observations will be recorded in a field journal, reports for provided social services, and photographs. Using the selected methodology, the research intends to offer a detailed description and thorough analysis of the Warao's position in the city of Ribeirão Preto and the action of local government institutions in response to reception demands
