Abstract

This undergraduate research project aims to develop a planar antenna for application in systems of the fifth generation of mobile communications (5G). Given the incipient implementation of the modern 5G networks and the need to overcome several challenges that still exist in the execution of this task, which include the design of antennas with specific characteristics, the research subject presented appears to be current, proper, and a possible generator of innovation. Within a period of 12 months, the realization of a complete development cycle is planned to be conducted, involving proposition, design, simulation, prototype construction, experimental characterization, and analysis of results. The materials and infrastructure necessary for carrying out the work are expected to be provided by the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. The proposed research is considered to have the potential to produce relevant contributions to the scientific community and to provide the candidate with important knowledge in the areas of antennas, of electromagnetics and of telecommunication systems, adding to the qualification of an electrical engineer.
