Abstract

This research aims to understand the theme of the crisis in Edmund Husserl. Departing from the conference Philosophy and the Crisis of European Man, we will identify why the general theme of the crisis articulates two particular problems, at first look distincts, that are the problem of the crisis of the sciences, and the problem of the crisis of European humanity. Thus, we want to understand, first of all, in which way the theme of the crisis is capable of leading in its own way with the two problems above mentioned. Second, we want to understand how the theme of the crisis is inserted in and is related to the rest of Husserl's philosophy, identifying the forward motives to the genesis of the theme of the crisis in Husserl. Specifically, we want to understand if the theme of the crisis could be already present, in an "embryonic" state, at the beginnings of the husserlian philosophical project, identifying resonances in the motivating concerns of the previous themes of the husserlian philosophy, with the latest. For such classifications, we will work departing from the comparison between the text of the conference with past texts of Husserl. For the theme of the crisis of the sciences, which leads with the forms of naturalism assumed by the sciences, we will be based on the Prolegomena for Pure Logic and on the article Philosophy as a Rigorous Science, and, for the crisis of humanity, the articles made by Husserl for the Kaizo magazine. Thus, we will have a considerable understanding about the theme of the crisis in Husserl, departing from the relations that his previous philosophy keeps with his later one.
