Abstract

Potato is an essential crop for food security and the global production chain. However, crop monitoring is still a challenge for crops with underground development, such as tubers. In order to maximize decision making and, consequently, increase crop quality and productivity, it is necessary to monitor several crop characteristics. In this sense, the use of remote sensing techniques, together with image processing, is promising, as they help or drastically reduce human intervention in monitoring. Therefore, the understanding of each growth stage allows the adoption of strategies for the most efficient management of the crop. Thus, the objective of this project is to develop methods for the remote monitoring of the potato crop, using remote sensing and artificial intelligence to estimate production parameters. The project will be developed in three phases: data collection in the field, development of algorithms and validation of results. The expected results include robust models for digital monitoring of the potato crop, contributing to the producer's decision making by remotely viewing the condition of the crop.
