Abstract

Plant-insect-pathogen interactions are models for studying the complex multitrophic relationships that take place in the field. These relationships are often highly dependent on each other. This work seeks to understand the relationship between Fusarium verticillioides and Diatraea saccharalis at the molecular level using the Zea mays plant as a model. The investigation of the genes and proteins involved in this interaction, as well as the characterization of the activity of maize PR proteins, presents great potential to discover new candidate proteins for plant defense.
