| Associated research grant: | 21/06693-4 - The importance of social touch for infant social-emotional development: integrating neuroimaging, psychophysiological, endocrine, and behavioral evidence, AP.JP2 |
| Associated scholarship(s): | 24/05978-3 - THE RELATION BETWEEN MATERNAL SENSITIVITY AND CORTICAL RESPONSE TO MATERNAL TOUCH: A FNIRS STUDY, BE.EP.MS |
Abstract Maternal attunement to the infants' emotional needs affects mothers' use of touching behaviors during mother-infant interactions (Malphurs et al., 1996; Mantis et al., 2019). Furthermore, maternal touch appears to modulate infants' physiological responses to affective touch (Aguirre et al., 2019). Evidence from our group showed associations between maternal sensitivity at 7 months on infants' neuronal processing of touch at 12 months (Mateus et al., 2021). However, further exploration on these links throughout the first year of life is needed. This is the main aim of this workplan. | |
