Abstract

The aim of this research is to reflect on female representation in family album archive photographs through a series of artistic works based on an authorial poetic construction methodology. The theme intends to question the conditions imposed on women in the 20th century by patriarchal society and how contemporary art tries to give meaning to stories and intensify feminist narratives. It is understood, in general, that family archive photographs can be recovered and appropriated for the construction of a counter memory or alternative knowledge, through the fusion between the political and personal spheres - in this case, those claimed by feminism. In this context, the personal photographic archive and the construction of the artistic process developed around it are seen as autoethnographic methodological devices, through a dialogical relationship between theoretical research and the practical part, constituted by artistic production based on photomechanical processes.
