Abstract

The use of drugs that decrease the senescence cell burden is currently among the most promising therapeutic venues to treat age-associated diseases and reverse aging. We will test the role of senotherapeutics using a translational approach with the focus on developing new strategies to improve immunity and counteract metabolic dysfunction and reproductive senescence that are accompanied by aging. We will use a combination of unbiased and hypothesis-oriented strategies to come up with new senotherapeutic compounds among molecules isolated from the Brazilian biodiversity. We will screen these new senotherapeutics using a combination of in silico and in vitro approaches and validate their role in vivo using mouse models. (AU)
