Abstract

Cancer is responsible for the second highest number of deaths in the world. In this scenario, late diagnosis is the main reason for the high mortality rates. Detection methods for the early diagnosis of oncological diseases by capturing circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have been investigated. Electrochemical biosensors have been used as accurate, fast-response and low-cost transduction platforms. However, for application in tumor biomarkers, the development of materials, geometries and manufacturing processes, combined with surface treatments and functionalizations still require improvements to increase both the biospecificity and the sensitivity of the working electrodes. Thus, in this present work, we seek to characterize the surface and electrochemical properties of standardized three-dimensional metallic electrodes of the Ti6Al4V alloy with different geometries (solid cell units, octahedral, body-centered cubic) before and after a polishing step. chemical. Along with this, it is also intended to evaluate the influence of surface functionalization by the layer-by-layer technique (LbL) using natural polymers such as chitosan (polycation) and hyaluronic acid (polyanion) on the resistive behavior of the electrodes. Finally, it should be noted that this plan is a complementary proposal to the ongoing FAPESP thematic project, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Marisa Masumi Beppu (FAPESP 2020/12980-3), in which he will be supervised by postdoctoral student Estela Knopp Kerstner Baldin.
