Abstract

A major change in women's lifestyle has enabled greater freedom of activities, from educational to financial. On the other hand, many of the tasks, both domestic and family, continue to be carried out, most often by the female population, which leads to an overload of work. Allied to this, the female organism has its particularities due to hormonal changes. Adding all these factors, women seem to be more vulnerable to stressors and, consequently, may have several health problems. Within this scenario, sleep and insomnia complaints stand out, very prevalent in women, directly interfering with the performance of all their activities and their quality of life. It is interesting to note that the use of hormonal contraceptives is already widespread among women in modern society; however, little is known about the effects of these medications on sleep. This project aims to assess whether there is any correlation between the time of intake of oral contraceptives and the quality of sleep in women of childbearing age. Women over 18 years old and with a regular menstrual cycle will be evaluated. They will be invited to complete an online questionnaire about socio-demographic data, the use of contraceptives and about their sleep. In this way, this project intends to bring new information about the use of hormones and the sleep pattern of women.
