Abstract

Involuntary and acoustically perceptible speech issues, known as dysphonia, may impair biometric speech authentication. Thus, due to the innovative nature of such a theme and aiming to support the FAPESP regular research project entitled ``Improving Biometric Voice Authentication Systems: Robustness in Facing Short-TermDysphonies'', the intention of this scientific initiation project is to investigate the implications of dysphonia in the biometric authentication of speakers (ABLs), helping in particularities that can be incorporated into the algorithms that have been created to solve the problem. Voices of individuals with temporary hoarseness, arising from colds or similar manifestations, will be the main objective of the analyses. In order to proceed, a bibliographic survey of relevant concepts will be carried out, involving the biophysical formation mechanisms of the voice and the routines for processing acoustic signals, aiming to support the investigation. Then, with the support of a database of voices obtained in partnership with health professionals, emphasis will be placed on the construction of algorithms that implement the extraction of physically-explainable features that resemble each other when they come from individuals cataloged in the experiment in two moments: during the period of speech alteration and after the illness. The features will be incorporated into the classifiers under development in the aforementioned parent project and will serve as a basis for presentations and texts to be published in renowned literary journals.
