Abstract

The present project aims to better understand the role played by syndecan-4 invascular biology involving cell signaling pathways related to migration processes. cellproliferation and adhesion. The behavior of wild-type endothelial cells and endothelialcells that do not express syndecan-4 and that overexpress this proteoglycan whenfaced with stimuli using different preparations of heparin and heparinoids will beevaluated by: 1) measurements of cell proliferation, adhesion and migration; 2)morphological characteristics, involving the analysis of the arrangement of thecytoskeleton (actin filaments), as well as the projections (filopodia, lamelopodia andmicrospicules) and the arrangement (spreading) of these cells.
