Abstract Cancer is the second disease that causes the most deaths in the world. According to the NationalCancer Institute (INCA), 704.000 new cases of cancer are expected in Brazil for each year of the2023-2025 triennium. Given the complexity of this set of diseases, the discovery of new moleculescapable of destroying tumor cells without being toxic to the patient represents an importantchallenge. The present proposal aims to synthesize and evaluate the antiproliferative activitymediated by complexes of the formula [PdCl(iTSC)(PPh3)] and [AgCl(iTSC)(PPh3)2] (iTSC =thiosemicarbazones derived from isatin) and the investigation of its antiproliferative action againsta panel of normal and tumor cells. The characterization of the complexes will be carried out basedon the results obtained by the techniques of elemental analysis, IR and NMR spectroscopy,ESI/MS spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The cytotoxic effects of stablecompounds in solution will be evaluated against breast (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231) and lung(A549) cancer lines and against non-tumor MCR-5 cells, aiming to establish some structurerelationships -activity. The most promising compounds will be selected for further investigation of their interaction with human albumin (HSA) and ct-DNA. | |
