Abstract

Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary area of utmost importance for advancesof the 21st century. This field uses biological systems, living organisms and derivativesto modify specific products and processes. In agribusiness, Biotechnologyplays a fundamental role in large-scale food production, beingconsidered essential to face food crises. This study aims toanalyze the advances and applications of Biotechnology in the agribusiness sector, usingthe scientific production available in the main Web of Science database in the period2018 to 2023. It is also intended to identify the cooperation networks that generateknowledge and information and its most influential authors and point out the gaps inknowledge evidenced by its structure. Agricultural biotechnology encompassesgenetic engineering techniques to improve plants, animals and microorganismsused in agriculture. This area also contributes to food security and isaligned with several of the Agenda's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)2030 established by the UN. The work plan includes theoretical review, research intodatabases, registration of selected articles, analysis with the support of software,content analysis and reporting and submission of work at events andin a scientific journal. This study will provide ways to strengthen the networkof cooperation between researchers and insights for future research contributing,thus, for the development of Biotechnology applied in agribusiness.
