Abstract

The research project to be carried out over these 50 days involves the student's initial participation in knowledge of 3 topics: a) Z-scan technique for measuring optical nonlinearities with femtosecond pulses b) Random Lasers c) optical coherence tomography. After the initial contact (first 15 days), the student will choose one of the techniques to deepen and carry out an experiment with some innovative characteristic, involving students and post-docs from the group. In the area of non-linear, the Z-scan technique will be used to characterize gold nanoclusters. In the area of Random lasers, it will explore random fiber lasers by upconversion and in the area of optical tomography it will use an OCT system to characterize biological tissues. (AU)
