Abstract

The induction motors are widely used due to their low cost and high reliability, they are very common in various production lines, from base industries to those that produce high-value-added products. However, in variable speed applications, power converters with high-performance control techniques are required. Therefore, predictive control is an interesting strategy that is based on predicting a system behavior based on its mathematical model and as a result, controlling it as desired. Noteworthy here is that this method is advantageous because the mathematical models of electrical machines and power converters are already well-established. So, the objective of this project is to make a study of the most important aspects of this control approach and the induction machines in order to implement, adjust and compare the system performance aspects, ensuring good response in the control variables when these instruments will be used. To achieve these goals, simulations will be made using software, more specifically the Matlab/Simulink, based on data obtained experimentally from a real induction motor. Finally, it is expected that obtained results will improve these control methods, bringing good performance to any process that employs them.
