Abstract

Electric vehicles are a milestone in mobility electrification associated with mitigating environmental damage caused by conventional vehicles powered by fossil fuels, which are responsible for the emission of pollutants and greenhouse gases. Additionally, electric vehicles have lower maintenance and operating costs, greater efficiency in converting electrical energy into mechanical-motive energy, and can provide ancillary services to the electrical system. Therefore, introducing these vehicles in urban areas has grown exponentially in recent years. However, the massive integration of these vehicles into the distribution network can generate significant impacts, such as overloading, since they are an additional load inserted into the distribution networks, which were not designed to support this load. Therefore, with the significant increase in them, it is essential to develop tools that can estimate critical regions of the city whose distribution network must be reinforced. In this context, this project aims to perform a geographically weighted exploratory analysis applied to technical and socioeconomic variables from the demographic census. As a result, thematic maps will be produced indicating the city's critical regions with a greater possibility of massive acquisition of electric vehicles. Thus, the power utilities will have a tool to support decision-making regarding the city's critical regions that will require reinforcement of the electrical network or load management due to the massive acquisition of electric vehicles.
