Abstract

The Vaccinology Laboratory, coordinated by professors Odir Antônio Dellagostin and Thaís Larré Oliveira, is located next to the Biotechnology Center of the Technological Development Center. The laboratory has undergraduate, master's and doctoral students who carry out their activities in the area of recombinant vaccine development, based on the in silico prediction of potential vaccine antigens, followed by the expression and purification of these antigens, and evaluation of their immunoprotective potential in animal model. Furthermore, the laboratory's activities are also focused on the development of molecular diagnostic tests, the molecular characterization of new bacterial isolates and the use of Mycobacterium bovis Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) as a vaccine vector. The scholarship holder will have the opportunity to work directly in gene cloning, expression and purification of recombinant proteins, as well as in the monitoring of vaccine prototype tests in animal models of leptospirosis.
