Abstract

This research project aims to investigate the effects of heat diffusion in three-dimensional type-I superconductors under the application of transport currents. Type-I superconductors exhibit unique properties, such as the conduction of electric current without dissipation, occurring below a critical temperature. However, when subjected to high intensities of DC electric current, thereby producing a strong self-magnetic field, a transition to a resistive state occurs. The project aims to understand how heat diffusion, caused by the annihilation of vortices and antivortices, affects the electrical resistance of these superconductors. We will also investigate the role of the substrate in the dynamics of vortices and the heat transfer rate.
