Abstract

Cerrado, located in the Central of Brazil, is the country's second-largest biome, following the Amazon rainforest. It is characterized by a vast biodiversity of fauna and flora, as well as diverse types of vegetation. Additionally, it is marked by the occurrence of fire as a significant disturbance in shaping its plant specimens. The species found in this biome possess a high medicinal potential and can be used for various types of treatments, such as antimicrobial actions, antidiabetic effects, and assistance in the healing process. The present study aims to analyze the morphological and anatomical characteristics of structural and foliar organs of a species from the Mimosa genus, belonging to the Mimosoideae subfamily. By comparing these characteristics among individuals, the research seeks to comprehend and describe their structures. To conduct this project, anatomical analyses of the underground and aerial parts will be performed using standard anatomy techniques. Histochemical tests will also be conducted to detect classes of substances produced by the species' metabolism, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) will be employed to describe the epicuticular wax and trichomes.
