Abstract

We intend to investigate the effects of quenched disorder in the phase transition of openquantum systems. To this end, we propose to develop a new approach which combinesthe strong-disorder renormalization-group method and the Lindbladian formalism. As afirst step, we intend to investigate the ferromagnet-paramagnet phase transition in therandom transverse-field Ising model. This choice is because much is known in this modelfrom which a comparative study can be performed. Specifically, we pay special attentionto the smearing of this phase transitions due to dissipation. Our method, if successful, willallow us to study a plethora of other phase transitions in quantum open systems in thepresence of quenched disorder. Theoretical methods for this task are scarce and desirable.
