Abstract

Studies on dating violence reveal its serious prevalence and its status as a public health issue. One strategy to mitigate its effects involves the development of psychoeducational interventions aimed at breaking the cycle of violence. This project's main objective is to assess the feasibility of developing an online psychoeducational program for the secondary prevention of dating violence in single cisgender and transgender individuals who identify as gay men. The specific objectives are: 1) To design and implement a psychoeducational program for gay men who have been exposed to violence in relationships and have a low to moderate level of emotional intelligence, 2) To assess the feasibility through a quasi-experimental design with experimental and control groups, as well as pre- and post-intervention measurements, and 3) To evaluate the impact of participation in the psychoeducational program.orty gay men between the ages of 18 and 30 will be recruited based on their results in relationship violence identification instruments, using the Revised Conflict Tactics Scale, and emotional regulation, using the Online Emotional Regulation Questionnaire. They will then be invited to participate in the online intervention program. It is hypothesized that the participants may fall within the risk factors for dating violence, and that the implementation of the online program may prove to be feasible and practical. Finally, it is hypothesized that men who undergo the intervention may demonstrate improved emotional intelligence, resulting in a reduction in both the perpetration and experience of violent behaviors. This study is expected to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the development of online prevention programs and to inform practices and reflections on the impact of emotional intelligence on reducing violent behaviors.
