Abstract

The search for alternative materials to partially replace Portland cement has been increasingly used in the market, thus, many studies have been carried out in order to obtain new alternatives and because of this, we seek to study in this project the combination of ash bamboo leaf and magnesium oxide. By combining these materials, the aim is to obtain several benefits such as cost reduction, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, good mechanical resistance and can be an alternative to reduce problems related to the depletion of natural resources. The project's main objective is to analyze the effect of adding ash from burning bamboo leaves on the behavior of magnesium oxide (MgO) pastes, with the aim of developing an alternative binder based on MgO. Thus, when analyzing studies on the use of bamboo leaf ash and magnesium oxide as alternative materials in partial replacement of Portland cement, it was noted that more in-depth studies are still needed, as it could become an alternative economically viable, in addition to being a sustainable material that can reduce impacts on the environment.
