Abstract

The terminology Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) represents a set of anatomo-clinical conditions resulting from chronic inflammation of the digestive tract. Different types of presentation are associated with different extraintestinal manifestations, the most common being interference with iron metabolism, which generates iron deficiency anemia. The reduction in absorptive capacity and gastrointestinal blood loss lead to iron deficiency anemia. Given this information, the present study aims to evaluate the prevalence, associated factors and, additionally, the effectiveness and tolerance of pharmaceutical formulas in the management of anemia in pediatric patients with IBD.
