Abstract

This project aims to address the slasher trilogy Fear Street (2021). The research problem is to think about the origin of the slasher subgenre and whether the trilogy in question can change the subgenre's representation of race and sexuality. The trilogy is a relevant research object with regard to issues of gender, race and sexuality, from the moment it is willing to discuss and question the narratives of slasher films. The methodology is based on film analysis and reading of contemporary texts by authors who study issues of gender, race and sexuality, and female representation in horror cinema. The objective is to analyze and understand how these issues can be used to update and modify the slasher subgenre.
