Abstract

This doctoral project has as its main objective to investigate the relationship between scenography and sustainability in different scales of production in the theater scene of the city of São Paulo (SP). The study will involve different stages, including bibliographical and documentary review, interviews, case studies, analysis of data obtained and internship abroad. The research will adopt a qualitative approach of case study, using as methodology the collection of documents through participant observation, interviews, and questionnaire. The study will be carried out with contemporary companies/companies active in the production of scenography in the capital of São Paulo. These groups will be composed of professionals who produce theatrical, audiovisual, advertising and/or event scenography. In the development of the project, fundamental concepts will be explored, such as eco scenography proposed by BEER (2021), as well as the fundamentals of the Theater Green Book (2021), a British manual that addresses sustainable practices in theatre. The works of BARBIERI will also be used as a theoretical basis; PANTOUVAKI, (2016) and VIANA (2012). The hypothesis of this research will investigate whether companies and/or scenography companies in the city of São Paulo (SP) currently incorporate the concept of eco scenography into their work practices consciously, or if they intuitively adopt artistic practices aligned with ecology and sustainability. The expected contribution of this doctoral project is the development of a map and diagnosis of sustainable practices in the city of São Paulo (SP).
