Abstract

Renal transplantation is a well-recognized treatment modality for end-stage kidney disease. When successful, it significantly improves the quality of life and reduces the mortality risk for most patients compared to continued dialysis. According to the Brazilian Association of Organ Transplantation (ABTO), as of 2021, Brazil ranks as the fourth country globally in absolute numbers for performing kidney transplants. Graft loss in renal transplantation poses a serious challenge with various influencing factors, including donor and recipient characteristics, immunological factors, and transplant-related issues. The objective of this project is to assess the impact of Donor-Specific Antibodies (DSAs) on the outcomes of kidney transplants (patient and graft survival, rejection incidence, and renal function evolution between 1 and 5 years) among patients who underwent renal transplantation between 2016 and 2021. This evaluation will be conducted through a retrospective study at a specialized transplant center. The research constitutes a cohort study, utilizing data collected from patient records at HCRP and the database of the Hemocentro of Ribeirão Preto. To achieve the outlined objectives, demographic and clinical variables of patients, as well as variables related to renal transplantation and its progression, will be analyzed.
