Abstract

With this project the student will study dipolar interaction effects of magnetic nanoparticles using an approach based on statistical mechanics. To this end, the candidate will carry out a bibliographical review of the fundamentals of magnetic nanoparticles with an emphasis on models based on Langevin and Kramers' formulation of magnetic nanoparticle systems. The Langevin and Kramers approximation allow obtaining magnetic relaxation times of non-interacting systems. Based on this knowledge you will: analyze the validity of the approximations used for interacting nanoparticle systems; seek a new formulation based on the theories mentioned above that considers interactions between nanoparticles to compare with experimental results.
