Abstract

The alarming increase in infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria has been a global concern due to the failure of conventional treatments and the emergence of new bacterial variants. This situation is worsened by the excessive use of antibiotics by individuals affected by these infections, which intensifies the associated problems.Faced with this worrying scenario, there is an urgent need to explore new therapeutic approaches. This study proposes an innovative strategy by investigating the venom of the yellow scorpion, known as Tityus serrulatus (Ts),which contains a variety of biomolecules with significant potential for the effective treatment of microbial infections. By focusing on bioprospecting, we seek to tackle bacterial resistance and improve the efficiency of treatments. To evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the venom, recognized methods will be used, such as disk diffusion, microdilution following the BrCAST-EUCAST and Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute - CLSI protocols, in addition to evaluation in biofilms. This study not only aims to understand the functional activities of animal venom, but also highlights its revolutionary potential in antimicrobial therapy, reinforcing the importance of scientific research in the search for practical and effective solutions to public health challenges related to drug-resistant bacterial infections.
