Abstract Obesity is said to be a worldwide disease that reaches epidemic proportions and culminates in other comorbidities in humans. Its incidence each year is worrying, because due to the risks it may raise, it is estimated that excess body weight is the underlying cause of millions of deaths per year. In dogs and cats, obesity is already a reality also considered alarming and very frequent in the routine of the veterinary clinician. Given this reality in small animals and thus, the need for research that intensifies obesity as a disease for these beings, this study will evaluate the score of body condition, muscle mass score, body composition determined by the dilution of deuterium isotopes and by DEXA, of obese dogs and cats and compare them with healthy animals. | |
