Abstract

The objective of this study will be to analyze and to compare maximum strength, explosive strength, strength sustainability and muscle fatigue between CrossFit® athletes and untrained individuals. Healthy male individuals, aged between 20 and 40 years old, will participate in the study and will be distributed into two experimental groups, according to their previous experience in practicing CrossFit, that is, the untrained group (UG) and the CrossFit® group (TG). The following experimental procedures will be carried out on different days: 1) Familiarization with the equipment, measurements and procedures to be carried out in the study, measuring anthropometric and ultrasound variables; 2) Maximum sustained voluntary contraction test of 1 min (MVC1min), and data collection of muscle fatigue; 3) Same procedures as in item 2. The data obtained will be expressed as mean ± SD. The reproducibility of the measurements in the two experimental groups will be analyzed using the intraclass correlation, the typical measurement error and the coefficient of variation. Comparison of variables between groups will be performed using the Student's t test for unpaired data. The correlation between variables will be performed using the Pearson correlation test. The comparison of the percentage change of variables before and after the CVM1min test, as well as ”CVM1min between the groups will be carried out using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The significance level will be set at p < 0.05.
