Abstract In recent decades, the geodiversity of the state of São Paulo has been the subject of much scientific research to identify the most representative sites in the region's geological history. Many of these sites have been intensively used because of sample extraction, field activities, population growth and other threats. Thus, in the last decade, several systematic studies have been developed that apply measures and actions in Geoconservation, mainly related to the stages of inventory, evaluation, valorisation and dissemination of geological heritage. However, there is still a shortage of studies evaluating the conservation and monitoring of geosites, which are fundamental steps in safeguarding and assessing the conservation status of geological sites. In this context, the main objective of this research project is to define a methodology for assessing the evolution of the state of conservation of geological heritage and its application in the state of São Paulo, and to propose measures and actions for the sustainable management of the state's heritage. The project will include bibliographical research, necessary to identify new geoconservation actions in the state of São Paulo; a review and assessment of geosite management priorities, with the aim of identifying geosites that should be prioritised for management actions due to natural and man-made threats. It will also include a visit to the geosites identified as having a high management priority. The next phase of data integration will consist of identifying physical indicators and their respective monitoring techniques and assessing the carrying capacity of the geosites. Finally, the results obtained in the previous stages will be evaluated to determine the state of conservation of the geosites focussed on in the work. | |
